How You Can Help With The July/August Backpack Drive For SafeFamilies Children

What can make kids very HAPPY?  Being able to go to school and having the right school supplies!  Here is how you can help! 

Our church has the opportunity to provide backpacks of school supplies for children in Safe Families care through our His Heart and Hands Orphan Ministry.  Many of these children are in a crisis situation and we have been able to help by providing basic items so that they can begin the school year prepared. 
When you are out shopping in the next few weeks, could you pick up any of the following items or fill a backpack for a very special child?

• Erasers
• Pens - blue, black or red
• Filler Paper
• Glue Sticks or Bottle of Glue
• Index Cards
• Graph Paper
• Highlighters
• Book Covers
• Markers
• Colored Pencils
• 24 pack Crayons
• Pencils - mechanical or #2
• Rulers
• 2-Pocket Folders
• 3-Ring Binders
• Spiral Notebooks - single, 3-subject or 5-subject
• Calculators
• Backpacks
• Other Needs - Socks, Underwear, Toothbrushes

Sunday July(TBD) to Sunday, August (TBD) there will be a collection box in the church narthex to drop items off.  If you don’t want to shop but still want to participate, any financial donations will be graciously accepted for purchasing items too!

Orphan Sunday / HHH Auction & International Dinner Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone for their support and loving care of the orphans and children in need of care.  Your support at our auction night raised more than $16,000 dollars to help these children and their needs. With praise and thanksgiving to our wonderful God, we thank you with a grateful heart.

 

Come Support the His Heart and Hands Orphan Ministry at our International Dinner and Auction -- Saturday, October 17th

Come join us for some tasty food and help support the children through the His Heart and Hands orphan ministry auction.  We hope you can join us for both of these parts of the nights events, but  if you can only make one part of the night please be sure to come!

Book Drive for Children in Beautiful Gate Orphanage In Lesotho Africa

 Thank You So Much!!  Your generosity is going to touch the lives of the many children at Beautiful Gate Orphanage in Mesaru, Lesotho Africa!  There were over 100 books donated!  Which is also nearly 100 lbs. of pictures and reading for enjoyment and learning for so many young children.

Soon these boxes of books will travel across the Atlantic ocean to southern Africa and will fill the library shelves of a recently updated new library room.  

The kids will pull out a new book to see the pictures, read the stories, and they will laugh and smile and wonder.  So whether they are able to return to their family or they become a part of a new loving forever family, this will give them a good start for their future.

Pizza and "Dropbox" Movie Night - Wednesday, July 22

 

Come and see how one person made a difference.

So we may have enough pizza for everyone, email Jan at jan.opcrc.org with number of who will be attending.

Pizza will be served at 6pm in the Youth Center.  Then, together we will watch the movie "Dropbox".  The evening will conclude at 8pm.
