In March of this year, Carol Bosma traveled with Haven CRC (Zeeland, MI) to Beautiful Gate Orphanage in Lesotho, Africa. This orphanage is home to 65 orphaned children ages birth - 5 years old. Theses children are waiting to be adopted. In Lesotho they speak both Basotho and English. These children love books; and reading books helps with learning English. The orphanage has plenty of baby books so they have no need for story books for this age. They are in need of hard cover (they last longer than soft cover) story books for preschool age 3-5. Preferred books are new or like new condition so they can last through many reads.
There will be a box in Orland Park Church narthex June 21-July 19 to collect book donations. If you prefer to give a monetary donation toward purchasing books, please put that in Carol Bosma's mail slot.
Reaching out to our church, community, and the world with the heart of Christ for children in special need of care.

Hogar Amor orphanage has recently added 5 new children. There have been some children who have left the orphanage as well. The orphanage currently has 23 children.
We are looking for new sponsors for these 5 new children and for any child who could benefit with an additional sponsor.
If you had been sponsoring a child who has now left the orphanage, maybe you would like to sponsor another child. Please contact one of the Task Force members so we can get a new sponsorship started.
If you are considering sponsoring for the first, please contact a Task Force member and we will be glad to match a special child with you.

Lifesong for Orphans Strawberry Farm Project Providing Jobs And Self-worth To Orphans
HHH is supporting the Strawberry Farm Project in Zambia. The project is giving jobs to orphans by growing strawberries and selling them and making jam to sell in the local Shoprite stores.
Lifesong's relationship with Shoprite grocery stores and learning the marketing of their products is showing increases in their profits. Also, learning to grow their plants in greenhouses is increasing profits too.

Honduras Orphanage Trip 2015 (January 17-24) Updates
January 22 - Here's a peek at our day today. Devotions in Centro, giving clothes and shoes to the poor in the brickyard, lunch, painting with the kids, setting up fishing poles, playing Spanish bingo and 'bozo boxes'.

January 21 - Tuesday Lisa led devotions and we visited we were able to give the children the gifts from their sponsors and play at the Hogar most of the day. We served them sandwiches, fruit, chips, pop, and cookies (which they loved) for lunch. Corn is growing good and they are also growing beans. Mango trees are blooming and Arvil expects a bumper crop.
Wednesday we had devotions at a park in Comayagua and Linda talked about who we are in God. Then we visited the home for the mentally ill - they give lots of hugs! We then headed to the Hogar Amor school and painted 2 classrooms that desperately needed it. Some painted, some played with the kids. Went shopping for the school supplies for the year and also got their uniforms. After dinner we went to watch the boys at the farm play soccer...Joel served as goalie!
DeJagers led devotions on how big eternity is and how small our time on this earth really is so make it about bringing others into His kingdom.

"Great day today - painted 2 rooms at the school, played with the kids and made them lunch, got all the school supplies and uniforms the children need for the year, and got to pile 9 of us in the back of a pickup and ride Honduran style back to the hotel. Awesome weather...wonderful team...God-sightings everyday!" ---Jan
